Written by: Adelowo Oladipo - Minna SERIOUS concern has been raised on the health status of a 12-year old female rape victim in Suleja Local Government Area of Niger State, as one of the two suspects arrested by the state police command in connection with the case, one Emmanuel Nwachukwu, has confessed to testing positive of HIV/ AIDS after being screened by doctors in a public hospital in the state. Nwachukwu, a 52-year-old man and a builder by profession, stated this while being paraded by the police in Minna along with the second suspect, Chinedu Andrew (22). The two suspects were accused of raping a Primary Six pupil, Bright (not real name), whose mother is said to be a close family friend to the wife of the first suspect and a neighbour to both suspects. According to Nwachukwu, “I have tested positive to HIV/AIDS, but before the test was conducted, I did not know I had the virus.” He said he did not rape the girl, but made love with her, adding: “She told me she was about 15 years old.” He further stated that he was married and blessed with four children. Giving an insight into how he got involved with the rape victim, the suspect said: “One afternoon in November 2015, Bright came to my residence when I lay on my bed . “She climbed the bed and was touching me. I asked what her problem was because I saw her as a young girl, but she responded that I would not understand. She kept on playing with me and when I could no longer hold myself, I made love to her.” The suspect further explained that when he realised that the girl was wayward, “I started telling her that I was going to report her to her mother but she responded that she was going to tell her mother that I was the one that had been making love to her.” Also, the second suspect, Andrew, confessed to defiling the young girl but claimed that she agreed to be his girlfriend when he informed her that he was aware of her love affairs with the first suspect, who happened to be the father of his bosom friend. The SSS2 student narrated his story thus: “I used to see Bright with Oga Emma (Nwachukwu) sometimes in his house. One day, I asked her what she was doing with Oga Emma as I was always seeing them together. “I advised her against dating a man old enough to be her father and she replied that it was the man that was pestering her for sex.” Andrew added that no sooner had he given the advice to the victim than she started touching him in some sensitive parts of his body, after which he quickly stripped his clothes and had carnal knowledge of her. Andrew said that his love making sessions with Bright continued, but that did not stop him from revealing the first suspect’s escapades with the young girl to his son. This, he stated, made Nwachukwu unhappy. “It was Oga Emma who went and informed Bright’s mother that I was sleeping with her daughter. This made the woman to report the case at the police station and I was arrested. I felt I had not done anything to warrant being arrested by the police because I felt I was innocent as the girl voluntarily agreed that I should be her boyfriend. I also told the police that I was not the only one sleeping with the girl and mentioned Oga Emma’s name.” When Crime Reports contacted the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bala Elkana, he confirmed the incident, saying that the suspects would be charged to court, as investigations into the case had been concluded. He however refused to talk on the health status of the first suspect.

I Can’t Hold Back Sexual Urge Towards My Daughter – Widower Cries Out

Residents of the Byazhin area of Kubwa, a satellite town in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja were in the wee hours of Sunday thrown into shock as a certain man, identified only as Matthew tried to have sex with his 20-year-old daughter, Patience (pseudonym).

DAILY POST gathered that Matthew, a 51-year-old civil servant lost his wife to the cold hands of death over a year ago during child birth.

Sources close to the family disclosed that Matthew had bluntly refused to re-marry, saying his hands were tied as he may not be able to marry the one he loves.

When our reporter got to the scene of the incident, the victim who had a towel tied round her chest said she would commit suicide if her father does not leave her alone.

Speaking on what transpired Sunday morning, Patience told our reporter, “It’s been over a year my mother died during child bearing. I have a younger sister and a younger brother, they are both in boarding schools in Kogi state. So, all the time, I am left alone in the house with my father.

“I have not been able to gain admission into the University because of JAMB issues. It all started two weeks after my mother died.

My dad came to my room to console me while I was thinking and crying over my mother’s demise which I have not been able to come to terms with.

“It was completely different and questionable how my father started touching me, asking me to stop crying. In the midst of all that, my father started touching my breast. I jumped off the bed and he asked me why I was acting strange, that he was only consoling me.

“This act continued for some time and I could not tell anyone because no one may believe me since we should unexpectedly be mourning still.

“This morning, I was trying to have my shower when my dad busted open the bathroom door Unclad. He said he is in love with me and he can no longer hold himself.

I grabbed my towel and ran out of the house screaming. He tried to stop me.

“Neighbours came around and questioned me and I narrated everything to them,” Patience added, sobbing.

On his part, her father, when asked to tell his own side of the story, said, “I can no longer deny that am in love with her. I doubt if I am her real father because ordinarily, I should not feel this way. Whenever I see her, I have this sexual urge. I am dying inside, I need help.”

Speaking further, Mathew opened up to our reporter that he wishes to re-marry but whenever the thought comes to his mind, all he sees is his 20-year-old daughter.

“What can I do? He quizzed rhetorically. I see her in my dreams making love to me and when I wake up to try, it never works. I’m losing my mind,” Matthew added.

Meanwhile, a source in the know of the incident said all had not been well since the woman died. The source who did not want her name mentioned in print, said, “I have suspected this all the while but didn’t say or do anything about it.

“Sometimes, I hear her screaming, ‘daddy, leave me alone please, I am your daughter’.
“This is tragic. I will never kill myself over a man because the moment I die, he would not even mourn me one bit,” she said, seemingly in a personal opinion.

“The deceased will be totally disappointed at this, if only corpses could wake up,” she added in a lighter note.

A police officer in the area who identified himself as Bashir Adamu said this is not a police case. It is a family issue and should be resolved as such.

However, checks by this newspaper revealed that Patience is 3 months pregnant for her lover, one Samuel Udo.

Speaking on this development, Patience said, “I got pregnant intentionally so my father would stop bothering me, yet he did not.”

She, however, insisted that her father had never succeeded in having sexual intercourse with her despite trying, and that her lover was responsible for her pregnancy.

She said, “When I told my father I was pregnant, he did not say a word, instead, he kept professing love to me.

“All he said was he wished he was the father of the baby as he sees his wife (my mother’s) replica in me.”

An elder brother to Matthew, when contacted, said he was in shock over the incident.

He said the family members would look into the issue and due action would be taken.
“This is an abomination,” the Kogi state indigene stated.

The government of the United Kingdom wednesday refuted reports in some national dailies alleging that President Muhammadu Buhari was in London at its instance to meet with former president Goodluck Jonathan with a view to adressing the current crisis in the Niger Delta region. World Bank Lowers Nigeria’s Growth Forecast

The World Bank has cut Nigeria’s economic growth forecast for this year, citing weakness from oil-output disruptions and low prices. The bank, in its semi-annual Global Economic Prospects report, expects Nigeria to grow by 0.8 per cent, down from an estimate of 4.6 per cent in January. Growth could pick up to 3.5 per cent in 2017, it said. Foreign exchange restrictions, fuel shortages and a plunge in oil production and prices had hit the economy, the World Bank was quoted by Reuters to have stated in the report. The country’s economy contracted for the first time since 2004 in the first quarter of this year and the Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, warned in May that a recession was imminent after a four-month delay in the nation’s budget stalled economic stimulus programmes. Faced with the oil price slump, the key source of government revenue, the central bank has restricted access to foreign exchange. The country has held its currency, the naira, at 197-199 per dollar since March 2015, unlike some other oil producers that have let their currencies weaken. The CBN’s Monetary Policy Committee had two weeks ago, after its meeting, announced plans to adopt a flexible exchange rate. But the blueprint for the proposed policy has yet to be released, putting further pressure on the naira at the parallel market. The country is currently plagued by oil supply woes, as a resurgence of attacks by militants on oil and gas facilities in the Niger Delta has driven crude output to its lowest level in nearly three decades. The Africa and Middle East Economist, Bloomberg, Mark Bohlund, in a new report, said the Nigerian economy was at risk of experiencing its first full-year recession since 1987, after output contracted by 0.4 per cent in the first quarter from a year earlier. He said a drop in oil output to a 27-year low and paralysis in other sectors due to fuel and foreign exchange shortages meant that economic growth was likely to remain negative for the rest of this year. The naira devaluation is unlikely to help much, with its beneficial impact expected beyond the end of this year, he said. Bohlund said, “The first quarter contraction does not come as a surprise, but the drop in oil production was actually less damaging to activity than anticipated, dragging on real Gross Domestic Product growth by only 0.2 percentage point in the period compared with 0.7 percentage point in the fourth quarter and 0.6 percentage point in 2015. “Instead, it was manufacturing that experienced the sharpest drop in activity, falling by seven per cent year over year. This is likely to have been partly connected to a decline in domestic demand but also to the difficulties of importing input materials due to foreign exchange controls.”

A majority of the delegates Vanguard learned are simply smiling to the bank on a weekly basis as they milk the major aspirants. Not all the aspirants are complaining, though. One of the leading aspirants who had been an official of the branches of the Federal Government reportedly conceived the weekly handout of N5,000 per delegate to woo delegates to himself a few weeks ago. His effort has since been adopted by another delegate who is said to have the support of a big man in the outgoing state administration. That aspirant was said to have simply upped the game by increasing the weekly handout to N10,000 per delegate. “It is what we have to do to keep our delegates,” a source close to the N10,000 paying aspirant said. However, before the delegates are paid, they are made to show their PVC cards which in the eyes of some have now become cash producing ATM cards.  At a meeting with APC delegates from Edo North last Sunday, a very senior political office holder from Edo North who has been alleged to be sponsoring the Godwin Obaseki campaign was said to have urged the delegates not to shy away from collecting the N5,000 being doled out by the rival aspirant. He, however, told them to return to the Obaseki campaign which he said would give them more. The prominent Edo politician, however, charged them not to mortgage the state to those who he said were not prepared for governance. At the same function in the residence of Rep. Philip Shuaibu, Governor Adams Oshiomhole was quoted to have urged the delegates to appreciate the sacrifice made by the state commissioner for works, Mr. Osarodion Ogie, who is Obaseki’s campaign manager. Bank Robbery: I Was Appointed Special Adviser To Governor Before My Arrest


A 27-year-old notorious bank robbery suspect, Ikadoi Isere, alias White Witch, who was arrested recently by operative of the Inspector- General of Police Special Intelligence Response Team, IRT, stunned Crime Alert during an exclusive interview by disclosing that he was appointed a Special Adviser to Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson, on Oil and Gas matters, prior to his arrest.
A native of Nambe Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, the suspect was arrested alongside two others; Daniel Gogo, aka Full-Payment and Ifeanyi Kalu. They were accused of participating in no fewer than 15 bank and bullion van robbery and kidnappings across Port-Harcourt, Rivers State and some South East States.
Police sources disclosed that three Ak47 rifles, a Lar rifle, 360 rounds of live ammunitions, 20 magazines, five dynamites, two pistols, a rifle servicing equipment and three exotic cars, were recovered from the suspects after their hideouts were raided in Bayelsa State.

N400m loot
The source who spoke on the condition of anonymity stated; “White Witch and members of his gang had killed over 20 policemen and made away with their rifles in separate robbery operations within Port-Harcourt City, between 2012 and 2016.” He described the gang as one of the city’s most dreaded robbery gangs, identifying, Daniel Gogo, who is popularly known as Full-Payment, as the leader.

The source further disclosed that having gathered credible intelligence on the gang’s activities between 2012 and 2016, operatives trailed them to Bayelsa State, where they were arrested and large catch of arms and ammunitions were recovered from them. They reportedly confessed during interrogations that they made over N400million from robbing several banks and bullion vans, including kidnappings of prominent businessmen, civil servants and oil workers across Port-Harcourt.

Confession of gang leader 
The leader of the gang, Gogo alias Full-Payment, told Crime Alert that he invested a large chunk of his share of the loot in setting up a local oil refinery within the creeks of Bayelsa State, while his patner, Isere, alias White Witch, stated that he invested a large share of his loots on his siblings, wife and his aged mother. He added that he also used some in sponsoring the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, at the last General Election in Bayelsa State. 

He explained that he mobilized people to vote for PDP and used the gang’s rifles to protect electoral materials during the last Governorship Election at Nembe Local Government Area of the State. White Witch told Crime Alert that he joined the gang in 2010, when one of his elder brothers who is a member of Vikings Confraternity, linked him to the gang leader called Full-Payment, in Port-Harcourt.

“I am a member of Icelander Confraternity and I am the executioner in-charge of Nembe Local Government Area of Bayelsa State. My elder brother IJB, who is also a member of Vikings linked me to my boss, Full-Payment, who is also a member of Vikings and he asked him to assist me.
He accepted and brought me into the gang. At that time, I was highly frustrated because after I finished learning underwater welding through the Presidential Amnesty Program, I had no job.
I wasn’t getting the complete amount from the stipend given to ex-militants of the Niger Delta. Before the money will get to me, it has gone through several persons and when I will receive mine, it will remain only N20, 000. There was nothing I could do with such an amount. I have a wife and children to fend for and my siblings are still in school and they are looking up to me.



Our first operation
“The first operation I went with the gang was at Uguruta Junction on the Port-Harcourt International Airport Road. We attacked some vehicles conveying a huge sum of money in foreign currency. We killed all the policemen escorting them including a man the police identified as the Regional Manager of the bank where the money came from. After that operation, I was given N3million as my share and when I got home, I gave my sister who had already dropped out of school some money to go back to school. I also gave some money to my younger brother who was also in school. I used part of it to establish a little business for my wife.

Another operation 
“Seven months after that operation, my boss told me that there was a job for us at a bank in Trans-Amadi in Port-Harcourt. We were five persons who went for that operation and our target was a bullion van offloading money into the bank. Two members of our gang walked into the bank like customers who wanted to make use of the ATM, with short guns and shot into the air when they got close to a point where the bullion van was.

The people offloading the money absconded. We drove our car into the bank and carted away a large sum of money which our vehicle could carry since we came with just one car. At the end our operation, I got N12million as my share. My boss and others who are seniors in the gang got lion share.

Time to quit 
“After that operation, my boss told us that he was quitting and everyone should go and look for what to do with their money. When I got home, I bought a car, rented a big apartment and I decided to go into politics. My boss also told me that he wanted to set up a local refinery so I linked him to one of my uncles who was also into such business. Before the 2015 election, I and my boss had meetings with some of the political heavy weights in Nembe Local Government and we offered to work for them during the election. 

To show them that I was serious, we assured that we were going to bring out our arms, ammunition and money to support them and they promised to give me pipeline surveillance contract in my area. But one month before the election, I became very broke and my boss has also invested all his money into his local refinery business, we were left with no other option than to go for one more operation.

Back to base- another operation 
“ Our informant, one Promise Barisnsia, who had once worked in a bank, alerted us about a bullion van that would supply money to a bank at the main Campus of Rivers State University of Science and Technology, UST. We trailed a van supplying money to the bank and we shot into the air to scare both the policemen, bank security men and workers around the bank and they absconded leaving the bullion van open. We carted away a large sum of money which our vehicle could carry.

Time for election
“When it was time for election, we brought in lots of boys, from Rivers, Delta and Imo States to work for PDP, Bayelsa State and we paid them with our own money. After the election, I was appointed a Personal Assistant to the Chairman of Nembe Local Government Area, who gave me a Toyota Hilux van with a government plate number. I was also linked to the Bayelsa State Deputy Governor. 

By October of that same year, some of our gang members became very broke and they called on my boss, Full-Payment, asking him to allow them do one last job which would fetch us enough money to enable us quit robbery, completely. Our informant told us that money was to be supplied to a bank on Trans-Amadi Road Port-Harcourt.

Time to finally quit 
“In December, when the governorship election came, I was given N3million by PDP and I brought in my boys and we worked for them. We ensured that all electoral materials were intact and we prevented people from the opposition party from snatching ballot boxes.
We also had some policemen working for us during that election. Between January and February, 2016, While I was waiting for PDP to fulfil the promises they made to me, and my boss was still nursing his injury, I took our rifles from Bayelsa State with the government Hilux van that was given to me and police escort and organized our boys. 

Operation with government vehicles
“We attempted to rob two bullion vans, one was at Agip Junction by Ada-Gorge Road and the other was at Emenike Junction on Ikwere Road, Port-Harcourt. We failed in those operations but our informant, Promise, brought a job at Fidelity bank and warned that we must not allow the Operation Manager of the bank to leave the bank if we must succeed. We attacked the bank around 4pm.
We accosted the woman while she was about leaving the bank and we took her back into the bank. We blew up the security doors, and shot indiscriminately to scare people. At the end of the operation, we retrieved the RDV from the CCTV recording machine to avoid our faces being detected. We returned to Bayelsa State with the government Hilux leading the way. We made N24million from that operation and I got N4million as my share.

Arrest at last

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC on Tuesday, June 7, 2016, arraigned the duo of James Ogwuche Alex and Oklewu Ene Gina before Justice B.O Quadri of the Federal High Court,Port Harcourt, Rivers State on a 2-count charge of conspiracy and obtaining by false pretence to the tune of Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira only (N250, 000). The petitioner, Professor Ndubuisi Eye, alleged that the suspects who are both students of Benue State Polytechnic hoodwinked him through an e-mail from a purported old friend by name Engineer Bartholomew requesting him to pay Two hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (N250,000)to an account number which he did.
