Buhari Not In London For Treatment- Femi Adesina

Olalekan Adetayo, Abuja

The Presidency on Tuesday said President Muhammadu Buhari did not violate any rule in the treatment of his ear infection because he was treated by Nigerian medical experts in the country.

The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, stated this in an interview with our correspondent.

He was reacting to reports making the rounds that by traveling to London, Buhari violated the Federal Government’s rule that says that government officials will not be paid for foreign medical treatment, unless the case cannot be treated in Nigeria.

Adesina referred our correspondent to the statement he issued on Sunday about the President’s 10-day vacation.

He explained that Buhari did not go to London for treatment but to rest.

He said the President had been treated in Nigeria and would only seize the opportunity of his trip to carry out further evaluation.

Adesina said, “You can check the statement we issued on Sunday again. The President did not go to London for treatment.

“We made it clear in that statement that he had been treated in Nigeria here.

“The medical experts here only told him that since he will be in London, he can seize that opportunity for evaluation.

“The President has not broken any rule.”

The statement issued on Sunday read,  “President Buhari will take 10 days off and travel to London from Monday June 6th, to rest.

“During the holiday, the President will see an Ear, Nose and Throat specialist for a persistent ear infection.

“The President was examined by his Personal Physician and an E.N.T Specialist in Abuja and was treated.

“Both Nigerian doctors recommended further evaluation purely as a precaution.

World's Heaviest Baby Weighing 15 Pounds

A 19-year-old lady named Nandini, has given birth to the world's biggest baby, weighing a staggering 15lbs. The baby girl was born through Caesarean section at a government-run hospital in India. She tipped the scales at twice the size of an average baby, which typically weigh about 7lb 5oz and weighs the same as an average six-month-old.

Reacting to the birth, Dr Poornima Manu, the gynaecologist who delivered the baby said: 'She came as a big surprise for all of us. The surgery took place for nearly half an hour and it was free of any risk. She is really big and beautiful. She does not have any health issues like irregular sugar levels or thyroid and is breathing well. We were initially concerned about her sugar levels but that is normal.' However, she is being kept at the neonatal intensive care unit and doctors are monitoring her developments before they discharge her.

Her birth overtakes the current record holder, Carisa Rusack, who was born weighing 14lb 5oz in Massachusetts in 2014.

Both the mother and the child are doing fine and we will discharge them once we are confident of the baby's health.'
The birth of the biggest baby not just in the state but whole of India has even left veteran doctors in absolute amazement.
Dr Venkatesh Raju added: 'I had personally gone to see her. She is a beautiful gift of God. I am happy that she is doing well.'
Nandini and her husband Arun married two years ago and were excited about welcoming their first child. Now that she is here, both the overjoyed parents are counting down the days when they can bring her home.
In November last year, another Indian woman Firdous Khatun had given birth to the a baby boy weighing 14.77 lbs. H
He was the heaviest baby born in the country but with Nandini's baby, the title will now shift to her.
The heaviest baby ever born weighed 23lb 12oz in Canada in 1879, according to the Guinness Book of World Records.
But the baby, whose mother Anna Bates had giantism, died 11 hours later.
The record for the heaviest, healthy baby in the world was a boy born in Italy in 1955, who weighed 22lb 8oz.

Dr. Betta Edu, Director General, Cross River State Primary Health Care Development Agency (CRSPHCDA), has promised to lend her voice both in the media and other avenues to source for support for the Bakassi Returnees whose lands and properties were ceded to neighboring Cameron.
She disclosed this when she paid a visit to the Bakassi Returnees camp, where she affirmed that the people are peaceful and not hostile as misrepresented by many who even call the returnees ‘militants’ in the political circle.
While addressing the returnees, she said her Agency will establish and monitor a free health care center at the camp and other displaced people’s camp in the State to reduce mortality rate.
“Few months back when we came to Bakassi for a town hall meeting to discuss about health, your elders requested that we create a health post at the IDP camps and monitor them. It looked like you have been forgotten.” She said.

After being conducted round, it was noticed that some returnees survive by renting their apartments to strangers while they sleep on balconies. One of them said: “They sleep by the corridors or balcony because they have rented their houses to people who can give them money to eat.”

Fake Female Doctor Arrested In Cross River

A woman who has been impersonating a doctor has been arrested in Cross River State.
A woman who has been parading herself as a medical doctor in Obudu Local Government Area of Cross Rivers State, Stella Akagbusim , has been arrested by officials of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), reports CrossRiverWatch.

And according to the report, this is the second time Akagbusim will be arrested for the same offence, after she had earlier been nabbed and granted bail.

It was gathered that the suspect was rearrested on May 4, after her earlier arrest, following complaints made by the Community Relations Officer, Emmanuel Akwagiobe, about a week after her initial release.

It was further revealed that the fake doctor's » cover was blown after she treated a man identified as John, a business center operator at the NSCDC field office and charged him 9000 Naira.

The patient told her he had only N3,000 on him and asked her to return in two days which she agreed to.

When the appointed day came, Akagbusim was said to have gone to the office to harass John for her balance and he resorted to questioning the rationale behind her desperation for the balance and alerted the NSCDC who later arrested her.

When she was questioned, Akagbusim reportedly said she graduated from the Madonna University but it was realised following investigations that though she graduated from the school, she did not study medicine or any science related courses though she paraded herself as a specialist who works with GNLD, a food supplements marketing and networking company.

She was later released and warned to desist from practicing what she did not study but a week later, she had gone back to her fraudulent practice and was arrested again.

Why I Delayed Signing Of 2016 Budget – Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has revealed why he had to delay in signing the 2016 Appropriation Bill into law.

Speaking during a radio interview over the weekend in Katsina his home State, Buhari assured Nigerians that his administration will effectively utilise available resources to turn around the fortunes of the country.

Buhari said, “We will do our best to fix the country. When the Minister of Budget and National Planning, Udoma Udo Udoma, asked me to sign the budget weeks ago and there were issues, I told him I won’t. But when he insisted, I told him if I assented to it and anything happened, he would be held responsible.

“He accepted and left. But when he had a second thought, he ran back to me and agreed with me that we shouldn’t sign it. It was at that point I heard of padding. The committees of the National Assembly removed our projects and replaced it with theirs.

“That’s was why we had three weeks to look at it. When he returned to me again, Udoma told me that most of the projects the National Assembly included had been removed but that we can go with the remaining ones since I must approve money before funds would be released for the execution of projects.”
