DSS Arrests Azubuike Ihejirika

Former Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Major-General Azubuike Ihejirika (rtd) has been arrested by operatives of the DSS

– It is believed that Mr Ihejerika was arrested in connection with Arms deal probe

Nigeria’s secret police, Department of State Security (DSS) has arrested the erstwhile chief of army staff (COAS) Major-General Azubuike Ihejirika (rtd) has been arrested by operatives of the DSS, reports reaching Naij.com says.

The ex-army boss was reportedly picked up last night, June 21 at his residence in Maitama, Abuja.

It is believed that Mr Ihejerika was arrested in connection with Arms deal probe involving former national security adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki.

Recall that an Australian Negotiator, Dr Stephen Davis insisted that former governor of Borno State, Modu Sheriff and former Chief of Army Staff, General Onyeabo Azubuike Ihejirika are Boko Haram sponsors.

But Ihejirika described the allegations against him as frivolous and unfounded. He said the allegation was meant to divert the attention of the country and its security agencies thereby causing division.

MTN To Take Immediate Steps To List In Nigeria As Part Of $1.7 Bln Fine Deal

South African telecoms group MTN will take immediate steps to list shares in Nigeria as part of a deal to settle a dispute over unregistered SIM cards and will also issue an apology, according to a copy of the agreement seen by Reuters.

The company said on Friday, after months of talks, that it had agreed to pay a fine of $1.7 billion in a settlement with the Nigerian government for failing to deactivate more than 5 million unregistered SIM cards. [nL8N1922BY]

Nigeria, battling its worst economic crisis for decades, had agreed to cut the fine initially demanded by almost 70 percent after MTN threatened to shut down its operations in the West African nation, a Nigerian official said on Friday.

Under the agreement MTN will strengthen its presence in Africa’s biggest economy by listing its local unit, a plan held up by the prolonged dispute, according to the copy of the agreement obtained by Reuters on Monday.

“MTN undertakes immediate steps to ensure the listing of its shares on the Nigerian Stock Exchange as soon as commercially and legal possible after the date of execution,” the agreement said.

The South African mobile phone giant will also issue an apology to the Nigerian government and people within one month of the execution of the deal, the agreement said.

The group – which filed a lawsuit against the fine before opting for an out-of-court deal – will also cover its own legal costs, the agreement said.

Nigeria has been cracking down on unregistered SIM cards, concerned they are used for criminal activity in a country fighting an insurgency by Islamist militant group Boko Haram.

The fine will be paid by MTN Nigeria over three years and is only around a third of the $5.2 billion figure initially demanded by the west African country last October.

Nigeria’s House of Representatives was due to question the communications minister and a senior official from the regulator on Monday, but the hearing was delaying for one week, lawmakers said.

The lower house of parliament said on Friday it was surprised by the deal as its own probe into the MTN fine had not been concluded. In March, the lower house launched an investigation into whether reducing the initial fine of $5.2 billion would require changing the law.

MTN is the largest mobile phone operator in Nigeria with 62 million subscribers and the west African nation accounts for about one third of its revenues.

Africa’s largest telecoms company has already paid 50 billion of the 330 billion naira owed. The rest will be paid in six instalments over three years, the company said. It set aside $600 million in March to pay the fine.

Police went to the house that the blogger had posted on social media to disperse the crowd that had camped there from 10am to 6pm.

These are the curious onlookers who surrounded the house where the county officer was reported to have got stuck inside a woman while having sex with the woman who is someone’s wife on Thursday.

This is according a report by the Economic Confidential, an economic intelligence magazine.

The magazine also listed Gombe, Ebonyi, Ekiti and Nasarawa states as the least earning states in the one year of the Buhari administration.

It reported that the two tiers of government – states and local governments – were paid the total sum of N2.8trillion at the monthly meeting of the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) between June 2015 when Buhari administration took office and May 2016.

In the magazine’s report, Lagos State was the highest recipient with N178billion in the 12 months under review. It is followed by Akwa Ibom State, N173 billion; Delta State, N144 billion, and Kano State, N117 billion. The report further disclosed that Edo and Ondo, which are oil-producing states, got N66 billion and N71 billion respectively, while another state in the South-South, Cross River State, received N59 billion.

The Economic Confidential gathered that factors that influence allocation to states and local government councils from the Federation Account include: Population, Derivation, Landmass, Terrain, Revenue Effort, School Enrolments, Health Facilities, Water Supply and Equality of the beneficiaries.

Muhammad Ali’s Sex Tapes To Be Sold By His Ex Girlfriend & Babymama

A former girlfriend of Muhammad Ali has made a sick bid to cash in on his death by offering for sale tapes she claims show him at sex parties.

Barbara Mensah, who alleges her daughter Kiiursti is the lovechild of the three-times world heavyweight champion, wants a six-figure sum for the footage.

Just two days after The Greatest was buried at a funeral attended by world leaders and celebrities, grasping Barbara told the Sunday People : “I know the value of the footage.

“No one has anything like this. I’d like to get as much as I can for it.”

The scheming mum said she is looking for more than $100,000 – about £70,000.

Barbara, 70, has already made inquiries to get the old cine film transferred on to CD to make her sordid deal easier to clinch.

She claimed the footage was shot at “gumbo parties” arranged after his fights.

She said: “There would be Ali and a few of his guys and then about a dozen or more girls.

“All of them were stunning. Muhammad couldn’t keep away from a pretty girl whether he was married or not.

“The tapes show them having sex.

“They used to call them gumbo parties – it was a mix of everything.”

Gumbo is a traditional Louisiana stew.

Barbara claims the tapes were entrusted to her by one of Ali’s closest confidants.

Speaking about her relationship with the legendary boxer, she said: “Ali always referred to me as his wife with great respect and not as a hidden affair.”

Barbara also claims to have written a “blockbuster” book about her life with Ali which eight publishers are competing for.

Kiiursti, 35, who looks remarkably like the ex-world heavyweight champ, is said to be the result of a 20-year affair Barbara had with Ali in his heyday.

She claims a 1988 paternity test proves Kiiursti is his child, although Ali is not named on her birth certificate.

Barbara was in Louisville, Kentucky, for a Muslim prayer service for Ali on Thursday the day before his funeral attended by over 100,000 mourners.

She stood just yards from Ali’s family, at one point coming within a few feet of Ali’s widow Lonnie, 59, who she blames for cutting her out of his life.

Showing pictures of Ali’s coffin on Facebook, Barbara wrote: “It really, really hurts and only time will ease the pain R.I.P until we meet again.

“I’m so glad I came to say goodbye to my love you were always there for me I never would have miss your home going for the world.”

And taking a swipe at the boxer’s widow, she added: : “Yes she tried to keep me from you in life and in death but here I am at the private funeral. R.I.P. my love.”

Earlier Barbara had posted a picture of blonde girl in lingerie posing with two men in pyjamas and claimed it was taken at a gumbo party.

Ali, 74, who had suffered the nervous wasting disease Parkinson’s for at least 32 years, died nine days ago from sceptic shock after being rushed to hospital in Phoenix, Arizona, with breathing problems.

Barbara claims Lonnie blocked her and her daughter out of Ali’s life after he became too ill from the degenerative disorder to venture out on his own.

She said Ali had regularly visited toddler Kiiursti in Houston until she was five but after that the visits became less frequent.

By the age of 13 all contact had stopped and the only other time they saw him was at an autograph signing in Dallas.

Kiiursti previously said: “My mom isn’t bitter, not at all.

“She knows it’s not his fault. When he was able to do things, it was OK. Then he got sick. That was the end for me.”

Barbara was a teenage beauty when newly crowned world champ Ali met her on a visit to Houston.

In 1967 Ali changed his legal residence to the Texas city.

And it was there in April that year that he made worldwide headlines when he refused to be conscripted into the US Army for the war in Vietnam.

America’s prestigious Life magazine did a special edition on Ali’s defiance and published a photo of him with Barbara.

The four-times-married boxer officially had nine children and Kiiursti claims she has met Laila Ali, 38, who became a boxer herself.

Kiiursti says she also speaks to Ali’s only biological son Muhammad Ali Jr who was estranged from his father for more than two years before his death and also blames widow Lonnie for cutting him out.

Kiiursti has denied to Ali’s relatives that she and her mother want a slice of the superstar’s money.

She said: “The rest said I just want money. I said, ‘Seriously, you just don’t know what’s going on, do you.’”

When news of Ali being rushed to hospital broke Kiiursti wrote on Facebook: “I will be there very soon daddy just hold on...your baby girl is on the way!!”

But when he died next day she was still in Texas.

Sources claim Ali’s will could become the subject of a legal wrangle among his family including Muhammad Ali Jr, who lives in poverty in Chicago’s crime-plagued South Side.

The bitter 44-year-old claimed the champion had seen his two granddaughters only once and that he was having to raise them in a two-bedroom flat, unable to pay electricity bills and accepting charity donations of food.

As well as the family battle rumours have already surfaced Ali’s estate maybe subjected to claims for a share of his £55million fortune by people claiming to be his children.

Khalilah Camacho-Ali, the champ’s second wife, has insisted her former husband has several children who remain unknown.

“They’re going to come out of the woodwork like roaches,” she said.

“I had to protect Ali from lots of paternity suits.

“I went through a lot with that man – he had a real dark side.

“Other cheats didn’t have nothing on Muhammad Ali.”

Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala Turns 62 Today!

Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala (born 13 June 1954) is a Nigerian economist best known for her two terms as Finance Minister of Nigeria and for her work at the World Bank, including several years as one of its Managing Directors (October 2007 – July 2011). She briefly held the position of Foreign Minister of Nigeria in 2006. She is now Senior Advisor at Lazard.

In 2007, Okonjo-Iweala was considered as a possible replacement for former World Bank President Paul Wolfowitz. Subsequently, in 2012, she became one of three candidates in the race to replace World Bank President Robert Zoellick at the end of his term of office in June 2012. On 16 April 2012 it was announced that she had been unsuccessful in her bid for the World Bank presidency, having lost to the US nominee, Jim Yong Kim. This outcome had been widely anticipated. However, this was the first contested election for World Bank president after the demise in 2010 of the Gentlemen's agreement that the US would appoint the World Bank president and Europe would appoint the managing director of the International Monetary Fund.

I Planned To Make Vehicles Run On Gas – Obasanjo

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Sunday said his intention during his regime was to develop the nation’s natural gas for vehicles to use and reduce dependence on imported petrol.

Obasanjo said he gave out licences to companies in a bid to achieve this, adding that by now, 50 per cent of the vehicles in the country should have been running on gas.

The former President stated these during a courtesy visit by the management of Nipco Plc to him at his Presidential Hilltop residence in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

In 2006, the Obasanjo administration gave out licences to three companies, Nipco Plc, Contact Global and Global Steel, for the development of Compressed Natural Gas for vehicles.

But it was gathered that only Nipco, which later went into a partnership with the Nigeria Gas Company to form Green Gas Limited, had invested significantly in the project since then.

While reacting to comments by the Managing Director, Nipco, Mr. Venkataraman Venkatapathy, Obasanjo said, “When I gave the licence in my time, the idea was to use what we had and by now, we could have put half of all the vehicles on gas.”

Venkatapathy had earlier said the replacement of petrol by the CNG would save Nigeria the much-needed foreign exchange on importation of petrol.

He said, “The CNG is a superior auto fuel alternative to liquid fuels mainly petrol and diesel, specifically for countries like Nigeria, which is blessed with abundant (over 186 trillion cubic feet) availability of natural gas that remains untapped.

“To replace 20 per cent of the current petrol consumption of Nigeria, natural gas required is less than five per cent of the total domestic gas consumed currently and less than one per cent of the current gas production. Foreign exchange saved will be close to $2bn.”

According to him, in Benin City, Edo State, over 4,000 vehicles run on the CNG which resulted in replacing 20 million litres of petrol from 2012 to 2015 and forex savings of over $9m.

He said Green Gas had developed nine operational CNG stations, with three stations under completion and five under construction.

A former Special Assistant on Petroleum Resources to President Obasanjo, Dr. Muhammed Ibrahim, who was on the Nipco team, said, “I was one of the team members when President Obasanjo was in office in 2006 that initiated the full concept of development of gas for vehicles and other applications in the country. It was during his regime that President Obasanjo awarded three licences to three companies to invest in the promotion and diffusion of Compressed Natural Gas for vehicular application in the country.

“But because of the capital-intensive and high-tech nature of the project, only one company today after 10 years has invested millions of dollars in the project such that the entire Benin City is encircled with a network of gas pipelines with about seven CNG gas stations providing the CNG to more than 4,000 vehicles.

He said the company had constructed the largest CNG station on the African continent in Ibafo, Ogun State.

Primate Ayodele: "Buhari And Osinbajo Would Have Problem"

.Primate Ayodele: God is angry with Nigeria

.Says Buhari should do things right quickly

•I warned that Keshi could die’

Primate Elijah Babatunde Ayodele is Head and Spiritual Leader of Inri Spiritual and Evangelical Church, Oke-Afa, Isolo, Lagos. Sunday Vanguard was with him recently during which his past prophecies were reviewed. He said God is angry with Nigeria, explaining that it is the reason things were not going on well with the country. He, however, in fulfilment of his promise to, as directed by the Lord, gather prophets across Nigeria to pray for the country as President Muhammadu Buhari alone could not do it, said he and some other prophets had started praying for Nigeria.

Majority of Ayodele’s predictions are packaged in a book his church publishes on annual basis called, Warning to the Nations (WTN).

The prophecies are also published in national dailies.

For instance, on page 72 of the WTN 2014/15 edition, he said the spirit of God said Americans must rebuke the loss of a prominent boxer. Alas on June 3, 2016, former world heavyweight boxing champion, Mohammed Alli died at the age of 74. On page 76 of WTN 2015/16 edition, he said: “PDP will undergo changes and needs prayers to escape crisis.” There have been series of leadership instability in the former ruling party to prove Ayodele right. Only recently, court removed Ahmed Makarfi and Ali Modu Sheriff as leaders of the party although the Board of Trustees (BOT) only this week resolved to hand over the party secretariat to the Makarfi’s caretaker committee. The fact of instability still remains as that in itself is still working as an infringement of the ruling of the court.

On page 74 of the same WTN 2015/16 edition, he speaks on Chibok girls: “Some of the abducted girls will be found.” Aisha was found and Serah Lula another Chibok girl were found making two so far and efforts, according to the authority, are on to ensure that others are found. On page 114 he says: “Liverpool FC will not perform as expected.” That also has come to past as Sevilla beat Liverpool in the UEFA Lead Final to clinch the trophy.

As far back as 2015, the primate had prophesied that discovery of crude oil in Lagos and it is published on page 99 of the WTN 2014/15 edition. Today, it can conveniently be confirmed that Lagos has now joined the oil producing states of Nigeria as crude oil has actually been discovered recently. The man of God had said in the 2014/15 edition of the WTN on page 104 that, “There will be scarcity of aviation fuel over a period time as some airlines will be grounded.” On May 16, 2016, Punch reported that airlines were grounded due to aviation fuel scarcity and since then flights schedule have been cancelled and being rescheduled.

On page 66 of the 2015/16 edition of the WTN, under South East Nigeria, he says, “The Igbo must be watchful not to cause problems and complications for themselves.” Many Igbo protesters under MASSOB and IPOB were killed in Onitsha few weeks ago due the fact that they didn’t obey the warnings of God. On page 9 he says Nollywood should rebuke death of one of their members. Just few days ago, Nollywood actress, Henrietta Kosoko, died. And on page 38 of the Warnings to the Nation 2014/15 edition he says, “Enugu State must work hard against violence and destruction.” That itself had happened in the form of the suspected herdsmen attacks unleashed on the a part of the state.

On page 88 of the same 2014/15 edition, Primate Ayodele predicts that, “Post-UTME test will be scrapped.” That also has just come to pass with the Minister of Education Mallam Adamu Adamu’s announcement in that regard and pegging cut off marks across the universities for UTME at 180. On page 41 he says, “Let’s pray so that there will be no workers strike in Ekiti.” There is a strike going on already in Ekiti. On page 60 he says cement price would not be stable and that, on page 99, “People will advise the government to break the monopoly of the fuel importers.” All these have come to past.

Another big one is the prediction warning the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) against losing a national coach. With Steven Keshi’s death, does one need to think twice to know that a national coach has, indeed, been lost by the Nigerian football community? Because he once told this reporter that he wrote and sent a warning to Keshi when he was alive. He also once said it would be difficult to remove Saraki acrimoniously and that APC should be careful so that his removal would not cause trouble within the party. He had also predicted that managing directors of some banks would run into trouble, and he specifically mentioned some banks and they are among banks in trouble now.

Ayodele had also said and it is reproduced here: “After the removal of PDP from office, militants will arise from Niger Delta who will be worse than Boko Haram because they will do what Boko Haram did not do.” Presently, the Niger Delta Avengers are doing things that are worse and more dangerous than Boko Haram had ever done. He said that the militants that would arise would have foreign backup and that United States of America would know about who the back ups will be. He said the back ups would be two powerful nations from Asia part of the world and that Nigerian government should therefore endeavour to dialogue with the militants.

He said APC would still have problem and that the party would break. He also said Nigeria would be one of two things: disintegrate or go back to regional system of government. He also said that some of the foreign investors would leave Nigeria and earlier before the emergence of President Muhammadu Buhari and after he had emerged, Ayodele said Nigeria would experience measure, which the country is presently experiencing. It was part of the things he had said in the past, which was published in Champion of December 30, 2015 page 20 that, “Babangida should pray for his health and some other prominent leaders.”

He also said that President Buhari and his vice, Osinbajo would have problem. He said in the North there would be religious misunderstanding between the Muslims and Christians, which the nation has just witnessed.

In conclusion, the Inri Church leader maintained that he always felt bad whenever his negative predictions came to past due to lack of heeding. He had however promised to come out with the new edition of his Warnings to the Nations (WTN) in July.
